Wayeb - Maya Sacred Days March 28-April 1, 2012

The sacred period known as Wayeb is coming up March 28 to April 1 in the ancient Mayan calendar known as the Haab. The Haab is composed of 18 'months' of 20 days each, numbered from 0-19 plus 1 short period of 5 days, known as Wayeb. It takes place at the end of year. People took this time to prepare for New Year's Day on 0 Pop.

At the time of the Conquest, this period of five days was seen as a 'dangerous time when evil spirits roamed the world,' because they noticed that the people stayed in their homes and did not travel. The Spanish occupiers failed to realize this was a time of spiritual retreat and that people stayed home because they were fasting and praying in their own ancient way.

As we approach the end date of this Great Cycle - the completion of 13 Baktun on December 21, 2012, each one of us is encouraged to raise our vibrational level. During the period of Wayeb when we have access to other dimensions and when our ancestors and spirit guides are more able to communicate with us, we can make a great deal of progress on our spiritual path. For these 5 days the portals will be open. It is a time for travel from one dimension to another. Time to set your intention for the New Year, which will take place on April 2 known as 0 Pop.

It would be ideal if you can be on retreat for the entire time, but life being as complex as it is...take any time you can during this 5 days to meditate, pray, spend time in nature or whatever you do as spiritual practice.

There is a lot of energy available during this time and I suggest you connect to it.

  1. Even though I am not Mayan I am so thankful for sites like this. Keeps traditions known and alive event though most was blindly destroyed, which deeply disturbs me. Every tradition should be acknowledged and respected. thank you for all you do.
